MANHATTAN Ñ Sunflower Bank, Salina, Kan., recently committed $10,000 to the Kansas State University Foundation to endow the Sunflower Bank Scholarship.
This scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Technology and Aviation, K-State-Salina. Preference will be given to a student from a county served by Sunflower Bank, including: Thomas, Ellis, Russell, Osborne, Saline, Riley, Geary, McPherson, Sedgwick, Barton or Ford counties. The annual available earnings from the principal will be the basis for the scholarship award.
Sunflower Bank was founded in 1892 and has nearly $675
million in assets. The bank is committed to the support and development of each
and every one of the communities it serves through involvement in local
organizations such as the bankÕs own campaign for literacyÑÒRead, Write, and
Bloom.Ó The owners of Sunflower Bank are the children of Joyce Hale and the
late Joe Hale, for whom Kansas State UniversityÕs Hale Library is named.
