VALENTINE DINNER AND AUCTION TO RAISE MONEY TO FIGHT ALS

SALINA – A Kansas State University at Salina fraternity is sponsoring a community benefit event, Hearts for ALS, to raise money for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The dinner and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Courtyard by Marriott in Salina.

“This is a chance for people in Salina to do something special to celebrate Valentine’s Day, while also supporting a good cause,” said Cody Honeyman, one of the student coordinators of the event and a member of K-State at Salina’s Phi Delta Theta chapter.

The evening will begin with a cocktail hour, followed by a prime rib dinner and dancing. Silent benefit auction items include autographed K-State sports items, as well as collectibles featuring Lou Gehrig and other well-known professional athletes from the past and present. Also up for bid will be entertainment packages, airline tickets, hotel stays and other premium items.

Tickets to Hearts for ALS are available for $50 per person and include a cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. Reservations are due by Friday, Feb. 10, and may be made by calling Lance Bartel at 785-826-7142. Space is limited. All proceeds will benefit the ALS Foundation.
