Monday, March 6, 2006 KIDS’ COLLEGE COMING TO K-STATE AT SALINA FOR SPRING BREAK SALINA – Kansas State University at Salina is now accepting grade school students – for a special program during spring break. Enrollment has begun for Kids’ College, a program on the K-State at Salina campus March 23 and 24 for students in third, fourth and fifth grades. The program will include a variety of activities, crafts and educational projects, said Shana Warkentine Meyer, assistant director of college advancement for student life. “We want to make this a fun mini-college experience for the kids,” she said. “We’ll even let kids – with their parents’ help – make up their own schedule, just like K-State students do, mixing and matching sessions with their own interests.” Advance registration is required, and class sizes are limited. The cost to participate is $30 for one child; an additional $25 for the second child; and an additional $20 for each child after the second, per family. Registration costs cover activities, breakfast and lunch, a souvenir T-shirt and other treasures from the activities. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. For more information, or to request registration materials, parents may visit http://www.salina.k-state.edu/kidscollege on the Web, or may contact Meyer at 785-826-2959. |
