SPACE IS LIMITED FOR HISTORICAL TOUR TO D.C. and CHARLOTTESVILLE

SALINA – Places are filling up on an educational bus trip to Washington, D.C., offered by Kansas State University at Salina. The trip is scheduled for May 26 to June 3, and reservations will be taken until the bus has filled.

The tour group will be accompanied by Dixie Schierlman, K-State at Salina associate dean of student life. She took a similar tour with K-State in 2004 and had previously escorted such tours with Independence Community College for several years.

Schierlman said she would encourage those who are interested to inquire soon, as the trip has limited space and is filling quickly. Participants may choose to register for college credit. Costs for the trip vary depending on room occupancy, as well as if a participant chooses to take the trip for credit.

“This is a great trip for so many reasons,” Schierlman said. “I hear time and time again that the experience changes the participants’ appreciation and understanding of our country and all that our forefathers have fought for.”

The bus trip will include several days in the Washington D.C., area visiting significant sites and historical attractions, as well as a stop in Charlottesville, Va. One of the tour highlights will be a visit to the new World War II Memorial on the Mall.

For more information or to reserve a spot on the trip, contact Teri Van Wey in the K-State at Salina continuing education office, 785-826-2633, or by e-mail at teriv@k-state.edu.
