SALINA CLUB’S GIFT TO HELP K-STATE AT SALINA AVIATION STUDENTS

April 1, 2004

SALINA – A $10,000 gift from the Salina Beech Aero Club will help 10 aviation students from Kansas State University pursue their college education next year. The donation recently was made to K-State’s College of Technology and Aviation, located on the Salina campus.

The club requested that the money be used for ten scholarships in the 2004-2005 academic year, each in the amount of $1,000. Five scholarships will be awarded in each of the aviation department’s two disciplines – aviation maintenance and professional pilot.

“ The Salina Beech Aero Club wanted to make an immediate difference with our aviation students,” said Bill Grevas, director of development for the college. “This money will give a tremendous advantage to ten K-State at Salina students – right away.”

The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need, with additional preference given to past employees of Raytheon.

The College of Technology and Aviation offers nearly a dozen degree programs, including engineering technology, aviation maintenance, professional pilot and technology management. It is one of the smaller colleges in the K-State system, with approximately 1,000 students. The admissions office may be reached by phone at 785-826-2640 or 1-800-248-5782 (toll free in Kansas).
