DELKER TO ASSUME NEW ROLE AS ASSOCIATE DEAN OF ACADEMICS

SALINA – David Delker, professor and head of the engineering technology department at Kansas State University at Salina, has been selected as the new associate dean of academics for the College of Technology and Aviation, located on the Salina campus. He will assume his new duties on July 1.

“David is a highly organized and dedicated individual,” said Dennis Kuhlman, dean of the college. “His expertise in our academic areas and his experience with K-State here and in Manhattan will make him a great match for this position.”

The associate dean position is responsible for overseeing the standards and development of the college’s three academic departments. This includes representing and recommending curriculum and degree changes on the college and university level. The position is currently held by Nancy Mosier, who is retiring.

Delker has served the college and university as a faculty senator and has participated on a variety of committees and task forces, including as chairman of the college course and curriculum committee. He worked in private industry prior to his career in education, and he has served as an electrical engineering consultant to a variety of companies.He is a reviewer for more than 50 electronics, instrumentation, digital logic, and microprocessor textbook manuscripts for seven publishers.

He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, having served as Wichita Section vice president from 1996-1998. He also is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education and a program evaluator with the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology

Delker is a 1973 graduate of the Kansas Technical Institute (now K-State at Salina), where he received an associate of technology in electronic engineering technology. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in technical education from in 1976 and a master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1979, both from Oklahoma State University.
