SPORTS NUTRITION CLINIC TO BE HELD AT K-STATE AT SALINA

June 16, 2004

SALINA – An expert in sports nutrition will present a workshop for athletes, coaches and other interested individuals at Kansas State University’s Salina campus. This clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, and is one of several summer sports clinics taking place on the campus this summer.

The presenter is Mark Haub, an assistant professor from K-State specializing in nutrition and exercise, physical health and aging, and energy balance. During the clinic he will address appropriate nutrient intake with foods and supplements, training specificity, the value of body composition and performance outcomes.

“Besides his expertise in nutrition and exercise, Mark is an accomplished athlete,” said Tracy Gough, coordinator at the K-State at Salina Recreation Center. “Mark is a triathlete and was a varsity runner in cross-country and track in college. Most recently, he finished the Boston marathon in fewer than three hours.”

Advance registration is required. For more information or to reserve a spot, call Gough at 785-823-6594. Cost for participation is $20 per person and includes lunch.
