FLIGHT INSTRUCTORS SELECTED FOR K-STATE AVIATION DEPARTMENT

SALINA – Kansas State University at Salina has announced the hiring of 21 new flight instructors for the 2003-2004 school year. The selected instructors, along with current staff and faculty, are responsible for the training of incoming flight students in both ground and flight instruction.

The new flight instructors were chosen from a pool of applicants, all of whom were FAA certified flight instructors, having previously earned their CFI certificate. All applicants were required to attend standardization training for two days. The hiring committee held interviews with the applicants during those two days.

The new flight instructors are listed below in alphabetical order by hometown.

From Burrton: Will Klein, senior in professional pilot and business. Seth Short, junior in professional pilot. Grant Franklin, junior in professional pilot, is a graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He is the son of Tammie Barker and Randy Franklin, Shawnee. Jeff Hrenchir, senior in electronic and computer engineering technology, is a graduate of Washburn Rural High School. Mitchell Ochs, senior in professional pilot, is a graduate of Wheatland High School. He is the son of Hank Ochs, Hill City, and Carlene Gillespie, Grainfield. Chad Sanders, sophomore in professional pilot, is a graduate of Liberty High School. He is the son of Robert and Anne Sanders.
