SALINA – The Red Cross will be having a blood drive sponsored by the Kansas State University at Salina chapter of Association for Computer Machinery from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in room 139 of the Technology Center on the K-State at Salina campus.

The blood drive is open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome, however, donors are encouraged to sign up in advance in the K-State at Salina library, as space fills up quickly.ACM has a goal of 20 pints for the drive. Free t-shirts will be provided to donors.

“In our region, the need for blood has increased 13 percent since 1999,” said Les Kinsler, professor of computer systems technology and ACM faculty advisor. Kinsler added that the number of blood donors has steadily decreased and that “there is a 97 percent chance that you or someone you know will need blood sometime in their life.”
