WILDCAT RUN BENEFITS SALINA AREA UNITED WAY DRIVE

SALINA – The 2003 Wildcat Run, sponsored by Kansas State University at Salina’s Student Governing Association, raised more than $350 for the Salina Area United Way. The run, which took place on Saturday, Sept. 27, was held in conjunction with Santa Fe Day and had several dozen participants.

Medals were awarded to the top male and female performers in three age divisions, for the 5K run. Top male and female performers also were awarded in the shorter Wildcat Fun Run.

5K winners in the women’s divisions were: 18 and under, Jenna Farris, Lincoln, first. 19 to 35, Trisha Ostrom, Solomon, first. 36 to 55, Carolyn Farris, Lincoln, first; Anita Huntley, Salina, second.

5K winners in the men’s divisions were: 18 and under, James Farris, Lincoln, first; and Justin Nichols, Manchester, second. 19 to 35, Tom Roberts, Mission, first; Chris Ostrom, Solomon, second. 36 to 55, Mike White, Salina, first; Doug McHenry, Salina, second; and Ben Wearing, Salina, third. 56 and over, James Gearhart, Arvada, Colo., first; Gary Cassel, Salina, second; and James Hague, Abilene, third.

Fun Run winner in the women’s division was Amy Sullivan, Salina. Winners in the men’s division were Dustin Birdson, Salina, first; Corey Moye, Salina, second; and Jason Drayer, Salina, third.
