PERSONAL TRAINING

WWildcat personal trainers can develop an exercise program specifically for you. Certified trainers have the knowledge, skills and experience to help you achieve your goals. Each trainer can tailor a program to meet your individual needs. Wildcat Trainers will follow industry standards and guidelines put forth by nationally recognized fitness organizations. *Effects will vary according to each individual. Results depend upon personal commitment and realistic goals.

How to hire a personal trainer:

1.  Come to the Recreation Center office to fill out paperwork.

2. Bring completed form to the Recreation Center office and pay for sessions. The Recreation Center office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

3.   Schedule your appointment with your trainer.
*Sessions expire six months from purchase date and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
*Sessions must be cancelled 24 hours in advance; failure to do so will result in a deduction from the total sessions.
*All sessions must take place in the Recreation Center.

First session
After review of your medical and fitness history, a fitness assessment is conducted to measure:
• Cardiovascular endurance
• Muscular strength and endurance
• Joint flexibility
• Body composition

*A physician’s clearance may be warranted for those individuals who present high risk factors.

All other sessions
All sessions will be one hour and may include a variety of:
• Strength
• Cardiovascular
• Flexibility training

Session will be held at the convenience of the client and trainer. Frequency of training is at client discretion.

Selection of trainer
Clients may request a specific trainer or be assigned based on schedule availability and trainer experience. If the client is unhappy at any time, they may request a different trainer by contacting the Recreation coordinator.

* Only K-State at Salina students and Recreation Center members age 18 and older are eligible to use the services of K-State at Salina fitness services.

 

INDIVIDUAL & GROUP CLASSES

Fitness classes are a fun and social way to exercise. Let a certified fitness instructor motivate and lead you through a workout to increase cardiovascular endurance and muscle tone. A variety of individual and group fitness sessions are offered free to K-State at Salina students and members.

New and exciting classes for 2007-08 are Tae Bo® Basic Aerobic Kickboxing, Core Training, High Step, Body Boot Camp, and Step Aerobics.

 * Only K-State at Salina students and Recreation Center members age 18 and older are eligible to use the services of K-State at Salina fitness services.

Session Descriptions

Group Fitness

Basic Step: An entry-level step class offering basic choreography with options of increased intensity. A great workout for beginner steppers! (Beginner)

Body Boot Camp: Train like the military, and get your body in shape!  An alternative to choreographed classes, bootcamp offers hard core drills and challenging athletic movement. Burn calories, build strength, and increase stamina. A great class for men and women of all fitness levels. (All levels)

Core Training:  This class challenges your core strength!  While all major muscle groups are used, participants focus on using their core (abs & back) throughout all movements.  (Beginner to Intermediate)

High Step:  Using basic step aerobic choreography, this class takes your workout a step higher!  Using a 12 inch step, a body bar, and hand weights or bands, this class will challenge all your major muscle groups! (Beginner to Intermediate)

Tae Bo® Basic Aerobic Kickboxing:  The original cardio kickboxing is at your Recreation Center!  This basic level has all the punch, kicks, combinations and moves you need to get your body in shape and strengthen your spirit.  This class is taught by a Certified Tae Bo® instructor.  (Beginner)

Individual Fitness

Beginning weight lifting:  This walk-in class is for you if you never lifted before and want to start on a program.  You will be shown proper lifting techniques, and be given a specialized lifting program to help you reach your goals.

Advanced weight lifting:  If you need advanced techniques, or want to take your weight training to the next level, this is the class for you. 

30, 60, 90, 180 and 360 Degree Fitness Challenge:  Sign up for the Fitness Challenge!  Complete your goal sheet at the Recreation Center office.  Every day you use the Gymnasium is a day of the challenge.  For a complete list of rules and level awards, contact the Recreation Center office.
