Welcome to Kansas State University at Salina's UAS Program Website!
The mission of the K-State at Salina Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (UASPO) is to facilitate and promote the safe incorporation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems into the National Airspace System above Kansas and beyond. We will use our experience operating, and maintaining aircraft to operate, within the National Airspace System to establish operational guidelines, policies, and procedures and provide for operator training for Unmanned Aerial Systems to fly within the state of Kansas. We will work closely with private contractors, government, and government-affiliated agencies to ensure the safe realization of the Kansas UAS concept of operations and will ensure that our activities are clearly communicated and/or relayed as appropriate.

Inside Mobile Command and Control Vehicle

Recently, K-State at Salina and Flint Hill Solutions (FHS) started initial training in their new Miniaturization Lab on the K-State at Salina Campus. This Class 100,000 clean room houses some of the most sophisticated machines used in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) today. Together, with FHS leading the projects, we will have the capability to not only miniaturize PCB/Components, but develop it for the use in current unmanned air vehicles flown by FHS.
The Miniaturization lab will have Initial Operating Capability by this Fall commencing with a project that will evaluate see and avoid sensor technology. The see and avoid technology assists with expediting the advancement of a UAVs ability to fly in National Air Space. Future plans include developing technical SMT courses to offer to students.
