COMPONENTS

ACADEMIC YEAR COMPONENT
During the school year, Upward Bound participants attend the K-State Salina campus for monthly Saturday sessions to participate in further academic support services. Instructional and tutorial activities in math, science, language arts, foreign language, and study skills are provided during these sessions. Students will also attend seminars regarding post-secondary educational opportunities and tutoring at their school.

SUMMER COMPONENT
Participants are housed on the K-State Salina campus for six weeks of residential learning opportunities that encourage students to develop independent skills and to assist students with the challenges of a college-prep curriculum in high school. Students are enrolled in classes throughout the day and in the evenings participate in social and cultural activities. These classes are preparatory classes that assist students in the upcoming academic year. The summer component concludes with an educational trip to a major U.S. city. If you are a graduating senior you may be eligible for the Bridge component.

BRIDGE COMPONENT
The Bridge Component helps graduating seniors overcome the sometimes difficult transition from high school to college. Students are provided with assistance in college admissions, financial aid processes, and campus visits to colleges. During the summer after high school graduation students, may enroll in six credit hours of college level courses at the K-State Salina Campus. Upward Bound assumes the fee for these courses.
