Creating a K-State Grammarly Account

The K-State Salina campus community has access to grammarly.com/edu, which provides language mechanics and style analysis for writing and editing. K-State Salina students can sign up for individual accounts and use this tool to review and revise written work before submission for grading.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The premium version of Grammarly does have AI generative features that may not be allowed in your classes, especially writing intensive classes. It’s important that you review your professor’s policy on AI prior to using these features. You can locate these policies in their syllabi or by asking them directly.

Follow this invitation link to K-State Salina's sign-up page:

  • Click “I don’t have an account” in the top right corner.
  • You must use your K-State email (yourname@k-state.edu). Otherwise, the account activation will not work.
  • Follow the prompted instructions to finish activation. Check your K-State Email when the 6-digit code is required.
  • Enter our campus access code when prompted: oMqxGqxEGBFDQwEF
  • When completed, look for a blue “EDU” label next to the Grammarly icon at the top left of the screen of your “My Grammarly” page. This shows that the registration was successful.

To Upgrade an Existing Grammarly Account

  • First and foremost: If you have an existing account under your K-State email address, you must deactivate that account if you only have Grammarly's free features:
  • Go to www.grammarly.com and sign in to your account.
  • Your Grammarly homepage should load.
  • Click on "Account" in the top left menu.
  • Scroll down until you see "DELETE ACCOUNT" marked in green at the bottom. Click on the words.
  • Follow the prompted instructions to finish deleting your account.
  • Once you've deactivated your non-premium account, please scroll up on this screen to the previous tab labeled Creating a K-State Grammarly Accountand follow the instructions to create a new “EDU” account with your K-State Email for free.


Add Grammarly Extension to Microsoft Word

You can also add Grammarly directly into Word! By following these steps, you will download the Grammarly Add-in to follow along with the writing suggestions as you type.

To set up:

Step 1: Sign in to your K-State Grammarly account’s homepage.

If you do not yet have a K-State Grammarly account, please refer to the previous tab, “Creating a K-State Grammarly Account,” before continuing to access the full tool for free.

Step 2: Find and open the “Apps” tab in the left column.

Step 3: Select and install the “Grammarly for Windows” option.

Step 4: Restart Microsoft Office (close out and reopen).

Step 5: Open the Grammarly Tab.

Step 5: Click Open Grammarly.

Step 6: Sign in to Grammarly with your K-State.edu account.

 

Using Grammarly.com/edu

  • Sign in with the account information you created.
  • If using a public computer, please sign out of Grammarly.com/edu before leaving the computer to keep your documents safe.
