Dr. Patricia Ackerman

Dr. Ackerman joined the faculty of Kansas State University in 2000. She as served as Coordinator for the Faculty Resource Center and Graduate Program Director for the Professional Master of Technology degree. Other leadership roles have included chairing the Campus Leadership Committee and the Course & Curriculum Committee. Ackerman co-chaired the KSU Faculty Senate Academic Affairs Committee, directed an interdisciplinary writing center, and advising K-State Salina’s student publication “On the Record.” She also served on the Executive Board of Directors of the Midwest Writing Center Association and the K-State Commission on the Status of Women. She currently serves on the K-State Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence and the Kansas Humanities Council.

Dr. Ackerman has received numerous awards during her time at K-State, in 2016 she was awarded the Coffman Chair for Distinguished Teaching Scholars. She has also received a Marchbanks Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence, Big XII Faculty Fellowship Award, Presidential Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, Professor of the Year Award, and two McArthur Family Faculty Fellow Awards. She has been twice nominated for the Iman Award. Dr. Ackerman is a fellow of the National Writing Project, the Wakonse Conference on College Teaching, and the International Writing Center Association. As a freelance writer she maintains memberships with A Room of Her own Writing Consortium, the Hedgebrook Foundation, and Women Writing the West.
