Professional Pilot Selective Admissions

As an incoming freshman, transfer or returning student wishing to enter the professional pilot degree, K-State has additional steps to be completed upon successful admission into the University before admittance into the degree. The program grants up to 120 slots for the academic year.

Applicants will receive communication through email that they applied to K-State along with a note that their steps will be completed in their secured selective admissions portal.

For students applying for Fall 2026 or after, please follow the steps below to get a jumpstart on your application process:

Step 1: If you haven't already, please apply for admission into Kansas State University Salina! (General university-wide application opens July 1, 2025)

Step 2:

Upon admittance to Kansas State University, applicants to the Professional Pilot program will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • GPA and/or standardized test scores that meet Kansas State University admissions requirements.
    • NOTE: These are submitted when applying to K-State. No other action is needed.
  • Holding a Class 1 or Class 2 FAA Flight Medical Certificate.
    • An FAA Flight Medical Certificate is obtained through an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME).

  • Completion of the online financial plan document.
  • Non-native English speakers: Demonstrated English proficiency, including a listening and speaking assessment. This is an FAA requirement, only required if English is not your first language.
Step 3:

Deadline to complete selective admissions requirements for review is:
Decemeber 1!

Step 4:

K-State will release decisions by mid February.
