Mervin Lare – KDOT Construction Engineer

Mervin graduated from KSU in 2009 in Engineering and started working as a project engineer soon after. He has also been a Construction Engineer and a Local Projects Engineer during his career with KDOT. In his spare time he enjoys martial arts, gardening and hunting. His mission at KDOT is to educate people about the importance of protecting our lakes and streams for future generations to enjoy.

Jason Neal - KDOT Stormwater Compliance Engineer

Jason graduated from the University of Kansas in 2007 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and immediately went to work for engineering firm where he had interned his senior year. Prior to joining KDOT in June 2023, he spent about eight years performing engineering design and management in the consulting business, followed by a couple of years honing his skills as a project manager within industry, and finally as the sole proprietor of his own engineering practice for about six years. He joined the El Dorado construction office as an Engineering Associate and has served as a Construction Engineer in District 5, Area 2 since September 2023. He was also a member of the Kansas Army National Guard while attending KU and was deployed to the Baghdad area from 2004 – 2005. Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife, Jenna, and their four children; with a lot of that time spent coaching them and other kids in wrestling, football, and softball. He also enjoys being active at Church, reading, working on projects around the house and the little bit of land they own, and picking up one of his guitars when he gets the chance…which is not nearly enough! His goal as the Stormwater Compliance Engineer is to help make every KDOT construction project an exemplary demonstration of stormwater management so we can be responsible stewards of the natural resources that Kansans have been blessed with.
