UAS Thermal Training for Search and Locate

Flying a thermal camera on your drone? Learn the best methods to get the most out of it with this four-hour course focused on themal techniques for search and locate. This course is recommended for public safety professionals conducting search and locate operations and is applicable to a wide variety of terrains, seasons, and scenarios.

What to Expect

Attendees will receive ground school instruction for using thermal sensors. An overview of camera settings for night operation considerations is also included. View the UAS Thermal Training for Search and Locate schedule for details.

Course details

This half-day, classroom-based course provides 4 hours of instruction. Attendees do not need to own a thermal camera to participate. Attendees will learn the following during the course:

Infrared sensor composition
Selecting the appropriate altitude for flights
Proper settings for different times of the year
Post-flight image processing

Course fee is $99.00. Reduced rate of $69.00 is available for concurrent enrollment in sUAS Commercial Remote Pilot Training, when offered during the same week.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to have a Remote Pilog Certificate or be enrolled in the sUAS Commercial Remote Pilot Training. If you are considering this training without being certified, please contact us for training options. All courses are held in Salina, Kansas unless otherwise noted. Registration is required a minimum of one week before the course start date.
