Leading innovation in aerospace education
Strategic partnership with the Cosmosphere
Two of Kansas’ leading organizations are partnering to provide expert-quality educational opportunities for students from K-12 through college. K-State Salina and the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas, are proud to partner together to help support students interested in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, or STEAM.
Both dedicated to advancing the future of aerospace, the Cosmosphere and K-State Salina are joining forces to deliver top-tier educational experiences for learners of all ages.
As part of this partnership, K-State Salina will share subject matter experts and senior students to provide direct education and VR simulation through capstone projects. The Cosmosphere will provide its extensive knowledge on K-12 education and expertise in future STEAM education.
Teaming up for youth success
By combining the strengths and resources of both organizations, this initiative will deliver nationally recognized STEAM and aerospace programming that aligns with degree pathways and workforce demands. The youth programs will emphasize innovation, mission alignment and lifelong learning, offering hands-on, technology-driven experiences that connect to real-world industry needs. Both institutions will partner to develop curriculum and programming related to identified focus areas, including composites, crewed and uncrewed aviation, and VR/AR.
Student learning powered by students
With K-State Salina’s proven expertise in VR and advanced technology, its senior students are working on a project to create an interactive training tool that provides a realistic simulation environment. During one of the Cosmosphere's programs, campers are placed in lifelike space scenarios where they practice spotting and handling leaks, an essential skill for keeping astronauts safe.
