• Advanced Multirotor Core (required): Build on manual flying skills acquired in the core curriculum. Maneuvers learned will test pilots’ hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and ability to fly in a GPS denied environment.
• Control Station Manipulation: In this module, students will learn to utilize their respective control station software completely. Flight modules, settings, displays, and autonomous flight will be covered in depth. By the end of this module attendee will have a full understanding of what their system is capable of.
• Mapping with UAS: Through both lecture and hands-on flight, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of autonomous data collection. This includes photogrammetry methods, appropriate camera settings for various missions, autonomous mission planning, 3D structure mapping and 2D orthomosaic maps.
• Inspection Methods with UAS: Utilizing Crisis City Training Center, students will learn how to implement UAS on inspections. Students will develop techniques for manually and autonomously collecting aerial data to detect failures using both optical zoom and high-resolution sensors.
• Night Training: This module covers flight basics at night and how to set up and execute a night operation. Attendees will receive flight training tailored to their specific requirements.
• Search and Rescue - Day: Tailored for first responders, students will learn how to implement UAS into search and rescue operations in this module. Multiple scenarios will be taught including “Silver Alert”, fugitive on the run, and operations using multiple aircraft simultaneously. Students will learn both manual search and autonomous searches using optical zoom and thermal sensors.
• Search and Rescue - Night: Building off the “Search and Rescue – Day” module, this module incorporates thermal sensors on a UAS. Students will learn how to plan and execute night-based Search and Rescue operations.

A variety of aircraft is available for this this course. Attendees may select from the following aircraft or bring one of their own matching these options. Aircraft preferences can be specified on the registration.

Course schedule is variable based on number of modules selected. For example, Advanced Multirotor Core is a one-day course. Additional day schedules will be provided after registration depending on module selection. Attendees are strongly encouraged to have a Remote Pilot Certificate or be enrolled in the sUAS Commercial Remote Pilot Training. If you are considering this training without being certified, please contact us for training options. All courses are held in Salina, Kansas unless otherwise noted. Registration is required a minimum of one week before the course start date.

Course fee includes all instruction, copies of course materials and notes, FAA written exam, sectional map and daily refreshments. Meals, travel and lodging are not included in the registration fee and are the responsibility of the attendee. *Payment by credit card is required at the time of registration.
