The following flight training modules are available:

• Core Module (required for all)
  • In this module, students will develop fundamental skills to set a solid foundation to build and expand their UAS operations. Special attention will be given to applying safety practices during flight and basic proficiency and knowledge of UAS flight operations. This module is geared towards UAS users who have little to no skills with a UAS aircraft.
• Tactical Operations
  • Tailored for First Responders, students will learn how to implement UAS into tactical indoor operations in this module. The basic fundamentals of indoor flying will be taught, including transitioning from outdoor to indoor flights. Multiple scenarios will be taught including operating in confined spaces, low light applications and indoor subject/target identifications.
• Advanced Sensor Operations (ASO)
  • In this module, students will build upon their UAS and sensor skills. They will learn the importance of target identification and be able to manipulate the sensor and aircraft simultaneously.
• Search and Rescue (SAR) Operations
  • Tailored for First Responders, students will learn how to implement UAS into daytime SAR operations in this module. Multiple scenarios will be taught including searching for missing persons/"Silver Alert," fugitive on the run, and operations using multiple aircraft simultaneously. Students will learn both manual search and autonomous searches using optical zoom and thermal sensors.
• Night Operations
  • Students will learn the basics of night operations and the considerations of low-light environments. This module will also build off the Search and Rescue module, incorporating more thermal sensor integration on a UAS and how to plan and execute night-based Search and Rescue operations.

In addition to flight training, attendees will also learn best practices for UAS operations, FAA regulatory guidance for law enforcement agencies, and software tools for extracting actionable information from UAS operations.

Course schedules will be provided upon registration. Attendees are strongly encouraged to have a Remote Pilot Certificate or be enrolled in the sUAS Commercial Remote Pilot Training. If you are considering this training without being certified, please contact us for training options. All courses are held in Salina, Kansas unless otherwise noted. Registration is required a minimum of one week before the course start date.
