Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing is a collaborative, person-centered counseling style for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about change. This two-day course will provide training on core motivational concepts and skills necessary to begin using the model in real practice settings. Attendees will receive practical tools and techniques that can be used in a variety of settings.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the four processes of motivational interviewing
- Appreciate the spirit of motivational interviewing
- Comprehend and integrate the practice of OARS skills
- Recognize and utilize the focusing process and associated tools/concepts
- Practice the evoking process and associated tools/concepts
Course Details
Dates and time: August 17 and 18, 2023 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily (hour lunch break will be included mid-day)
Location: Kansas State University Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina, Kansas
Cost: $160
Continuing education credits: 12 CEU hours

Four County Mental Health Center, Inc.
Steve Denny is certified to provide trainings as a mentee under Bridgette Franklin, MINT member. He has been provided MI trainings since 2014. Steve is the Deputy Director and CCBHC project director at Four County Mental Health Center, Inc.
