Mindfulness in Practice: Building Resilience through Awareness

Professional, personal, and client needs are addressed through mindful practice and building resiliency with awareness. This course will provide an introduction to multiple mindfulness-based therapies.

Attendees may use this course to meet 6 hours of general continuing education units. Kansas State University is a pre-approved continuing education provider approved by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. Provider number 15-005.

Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the importance of mindfulness, how to begin a practice and the benefits that follow
  • Learn resources, tips and exercises for personal and professional use
  • Experience multiple mindfulness exercises including breath work, guided imagery, meditation, awareness and healing exercises; ability to share with clients

This course is offered both in person or live online. You may choose your modality on the registration form.

Location: In person in Salina, Kansas or live stream online via Zoom

Cost: $125

Payment is due at the time of registration.

Continuing education credits: 6 general hours

Suzie DeVaughn, LMSW
Self-Care Specialists

Suzie DeVaughn, LMSW, is the Founder of Self-Care Specialists and author of Mastering Self-Care: Building Resiliency through Healthy and Mindful Living. She graduated from Wichita State University with a master's degree in social work, has a Compassion Fatigue Educator Certification from the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology and facilitates compassion stress management training for professional caregivers. Suzie's experience includes counseling clients at a holistic health center, providing therapy for survivors of domestic abuse at a women's shelter, practicing social work within a community mental health organization, and she currently provides therapy in a private practice setting. Some of her modalities include EMDR, Hakomi Body-Centered Psychotheraphy and Psych K.

A discounted rate is offered for companies or organizations sending multiple attendees. Discounts are tied to number of attendees as follows:

For companies or organizations sending more than four employees, discounts will be applied in the same increments as indicated above.

System Requirements

The online training software operates on any Mac or PC system. Your system must have speakers with sound enabled. You will need a microphone (webcam optional) to participate in the program. You will need an internet connection, broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE) is recommended.

You will need to download Zoom, a free video conferencing software to participate in the live activities. You can do this from the Zoom website, or you will be prompted to download it prior to the program. Please review the Zoom system requirements.
